It is my hope that there will be something on this blog for anyone who is trying to live lightly and joyfully in the world.
Grow.
I am a beginning gardener, who is constantly humbled by how much I don’t know and how much I want to learn. I love gardening because I’ve always been interested in environmental issues, and growing some of my own food helps me make a tiny dent in the issue of sustainability. As a writer, I also love gardening because it’s one of the easiest metaphors out there. Watching my yard helps me answer just about any life question I have.
Cook.
This blog will feature some of my recipes and highlight cookbooks that I love. I am vegan for health, environmental, and ethical reasons, so all of my recipes are free of meat, dairy, and eggs. However, I also happen to think they’re delicious. You don’t have to be vegan to enjoy this blog, nor would I want you to feel pressure to be. Whether you’ve been vegan for years, are just trying to cut down on your intake of animal products, or have no intention of cutting down on meat and dairy, I hope you will enjoy these recipes.
Write.
I am an aspiring writer, and selfishly, this blog gives me a great chance to practice. While I focus on plant-based food on the blog, I also write about my own life. My writing might cover anything, but it’s mostly about those every day triumphs and struggles. I find great comfort in nature and being outdoors, and you will see a lot of that in my writing.
A Little More about Me:
I live in Portland, Oregon, with my husband, two cats, dog, and daughter. If I’m not with my family or writing, I’m probably teaching or on a walk with the dog.
Thanks for visiting,

Ah, a fellow Portlander! 🙂
I really like what I see here. I’m a writer first, but I admire those who garden and cook with produce they’ve hand-raised and hope to do both things myself someday. Looking forward to good insights here 🙂
